Educate Yourself Now!

Hello again,

Do you realize that you almost lost the priviledge to buy your herbs and vitamins at your local health food store or over the Internet? That's right, people. That's why I keep telling you it is so important to educate yourself NOW about holistic healing and natural medicine.

If you don't know what CODEX is, you need to Google it. CODEX is a world-wide organization that claims to have the public's best interest in mind as it rushes to propose that every nutrient - read vitamin, mineral, herb - is a food, and as such should be regulated by the government (CODEX) for safety and value. This organization all ready has authority in other countries. Our U.S. Congress considered a vote to allow CODEX to have authority in the United States.

Therefore if CODEX decided , for instance, garlic was too strong for the public to know how to consume correctly, they could pull it from the shelves and make it illegal for any one to grow or sell it.

Can you see where this is headed? Don't think it could happen? Back in the late 1960's, early 1970's tests were conducted on tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the active ingredient in marijuana. The results showed that THC was remarkably effective in fightling cancer. Now have you ever heard this? I think not.

You probably know that smoking marijuana helps cancer patients with the nausea they experience after chemotherapy treatments. Now I'm no doctor, don't profess to be, but seems to me that it shouldn't be a big deal to prescribe a natural herb to cancer patients if it helped with a horrible side-effect from a toxic treatment that the doctor performed. This is a natural herb we're talking about. Something that you could grow in your backyard if it wasn't illegal. But most M.D.s act like it's some mortal sin for a cancer patient to want something, anything to relieve nausea after chemo.

Oh, and by the way, the FDA is ready to approve a synthetic version of THC within the next few weeks. Seems it's OK for the drug companies to make a buck off of the cancer patients, it's just illegal when they want the natural THC-rich herb!

So what do you think? Should cancer patients be allowed to receive medicinal marijuana? Voice your opinion.

Liz

Of course cancer patients should be able to use medicinal marijuana. I question whether one should smoke it as I don't think this would be good for the lungs, but it needs to be used and possibly in pill or liquid form. It's a plant and if it's legal to use tobacco then why not marijuana?

I appreciate the input, Dee. And you may be right about not smoking the "weed." I'm not sure if the leaves can be brewed into a tea or made into a tincture and still be effective or not. I haven't read any literature on that. If anyone has any info, let us know. This is one subject that can't be easily tested :)
